Naming Ceremony of Seal of Love Charitable Foundation

Seal of Love Charitable Foundation donated HK$40 million (approximately US$5 million) to the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). The gift established the “Seal of Love Foundation Innovation Service Fund,” which is aimed at empowering HKUST students to solve real-world problems through innovation and technology.

The fund’s first donation is to the Student Innovation for Global Health (SIGHT) project, which has been devising creative and affordable solutions to global health issues since 2014. Past inventions by SIGHT include a mobile electronic health record system for slums and rural areas in Cambodia and Gambia. In appreciation of the Foundation’s support, the University has named a wing of its semi-circular Academic Building“Seal of Love Charitable Foundation Wing”.

At the naming ceremony, Director of the Foundation Ms. Dee Dee CHAN said, “We hope that our new Fund will allow HKUST students to use their imagination and technological know-how to come up with disruptive tangible solutions to the world’s most pressing problems with maximum social impact.”
